NOTICE TO TEACHERS AND PARENTS

If you are visiting this site, we hope that you will encourage your ELL students and children to contribute their writing to ENN. They will probably need your help in the beginning. Use the Reporter Notebook as a starting point.
We think that what makes this project fun is that students report on things that interest them. There is almost nothing that cannot be written up as news.
As a teacher or parent, let your common sense be your guide. The goal is to help students gather news and report it at whatever level they are able. As their language skills improve, you (and we) should expect them to be more complete in their research, more comprehensive and clear in their writing, and better able to follow the written guidelines for submission of stories. Help students as they need it, but never let the task become overwhelming. We want every potential contributer to be successful.
Becoming an ENN reporter gives students an authentic, meaningful and productive way to develop their writing skills in school or at home. For assistance, contact us at ENN.
Thanks,
